Our first year celebrating Spring Into Health with Mercy Hospital Fairfield was a huge success. Attendees were able to interact with vendors and sample delicious and healthy food options. A variety of health screenings and wellness advice was provided by the professionals from Mercy. Guest speakers shared their knowledge and we even learned how to sprout our own food. There were games and fun interactive exhibits for all ages and it was a great chance to try the products offered in our natural foods department. Overall, this free event was a day of fun for the whole family!

Health Screenings

Health screenings are a great way to stay in tune with your overall health.

Mercy Hospital Fairfield will be providing a wide range of screenings for your convenience. Spring into Health is the perfect time to start being proactive about wellness. Regular screenings can significantly improve your chances of discovering possible risk factors. Health professionals from Mercy Hospital Fairfield will be present to offer insight for preventative care and easy steps you can take to make a big impact on your long term wellness.

The Food

Spring into Health will provide a great opportunity to check out some of the best new healthy food options available as vendors provide samples of a wide variety of nutritious snacks and more. You’ll find a lot of delicious options available when it comes to improving your diet. Many different specialty, dietary products will be offered including organic, gluten free, super foods and natural supplements. Vendors will also be providing a variety of cutting edge products for a well-rounded natural lifestyle.

Dr Joe Northup

Dr. Joe Northup

Dr. Joe Northup is the medical director and principal bariatric surgeon for Mercy Health – Weight Management Solutions. He completed his surgical training at the Medical College of Ohio and went on to complete an advanced laparoscopic and bariatric fellowship at the University of Virginia.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Northup was invited to join the faculty of the University of Virginia (UVA) Department of Surgery. He was appointed as Medical Director of the bariatric surgery program there, and developed the Bariatric Center of Excellence for UVA.

In December of 2007, he joined Mercy Health. He has since worked to develop Mercy Health – Weight Management Solutions, one of the Cincinnati area’s most complete weight loss programs. As an experienced bariatric surgeon, Dr. Northup is dedicated to helping each patient find the weight loss solution that is right for them.

Dr. Northup serves on national committees for the ASMBS and SAGES. Having personally performed more than 700 bariatric surgery procedures, Dr. Northup has extensive experience treating patients who suffer from excess weight.

Amanda has her BS in Exercise Science from Northern Kentucky University and is an ACSM certified Health Fitness Specialist in addition to an AFFA certified Group Fitness Instructor.

A Variety of Activities in the Kids’ Zone

The First Tee
The First Tee of Greater Miami Valley will provide putting instruction and a mini-golf course for kids to try the game! Built around The First Tee’s Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits, their programs focus on empowering youth with life skills and character development through the game of golf. Win prizes for playing and learn about the many opportunities available to participate in The First Tee this summer!

Peachy’s Healthy Food Demos
Learn about and discuss the benefits of healthy snacks. Try wholesome quinoa salad and baked sweet potato fries.
