- 1 large orange
- 1 bottle dry red wine
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons brandy
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon peppercorns
- Remove zest of orange in wide strips using a vegetable peeler.
- Combine zest strips with remaining ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and heat for 10 minutes.
- Ladle into glasses, leaving spices and zest in the pan.
- Serves 6.
