Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 large orange
  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brandy
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppercorns

Directions

  1. Remove zest of orange in wide strips using a vegetable peeler.
  2. Combine zest strips with remaining ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  3. Reduce heat to low and heat for 10 minutes.
  4. Ladle into glasses, leaving spices and zest in the pan.
  5. Serves 6.
