Tour Guides

They are men and women of all ages and backgrounds ~ scholars, athletes and leaders, not to mention skilled at walking backwards. Yet each of them has one of the most rewarding jobs at Jungle Jim's International Market -- to serve as your tour guide. Read below to meet our tour guides and to find out what makes each of them love "The Jungle."

Annie

What is your favorite country? - Ireland (of course) I have dual citizenship.
What is your favorite food/item to purchase at Jungle Jim's? - Just one??? Grass fed cow milk.
Why do you enjoy being a Tour Guide? - I can’t imagine a job that is more fun! We meet so many interesting people and always have the opportunity to learn and share fascinating food facts.
What is your favorite department to talk about during a tour? - Produce – the ability to walk into one store and choose from such a variety of fresh healthy food is a true blessing.

Ashley

Debbie

What is your favorite country? - USA - all the way...but then there's Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Austria...
What is your favorite food/item to purchase at Jungle Jim's? - Item - as in singular?! That's like asking which of my children I love the most! Ok, if compelled to choose just one, it would have to be Columela Extra Virgin Olive Oil from España! Don't get me wrong, butter has it's place (and we have some bomb-diggity butters in our Butter Bar - can anyone say Plugra?!), but Columela EVOO is the only accompaniment to my veggies - steamed or raw. Instead of the obligatory ranch dressing for a veggie platter, try Columela EVOO & a little salt & pepper. ¡Muy delicioso!
Why do you enjoy being a Tour Guide? - It is a wonderful opportunity to share with people two of my passions - food & education. And really, is there anything more fun than going on a safari through the foodie paradise of Jungle Jim's?! Who knows what tidbit, be it food or information, we'll discover. An adventure every single time!
What is your favorite department to talk about during a tour? - Cheese, baby! It's all there - culture (pun intended), texture, flavor, smell, experimentation, comfort, unknown, familiar. To know cheese is to know pleasure!

Edie

What is your favorite country? - USA ~ I love the variety of geography and cultures.
What is your favorite food/item to purchase at Jungle Jim's? - The cream horns and Amish pumpkin cake from our bakery. Actually, anything made by our bakery!
Why do you enjoy being a Tour Guide? - I enjoy sharing what makes this store so special ~ the food, the décor, and the sense of fun.
What is your favorite department to talk about during a tour? - International Produce ~ all people need nutrients from their food, and this department shows different foods worldwide that provide those nutrients (i.e. we have 5 kids of bananas).

John

What is your favorite country? - after the USA of course -- is Norway. It has interesting culture, friendly people, beautiful scenery, and good food!
What is your favorite food/item to purchase at Jungle Jim's? - I really enjoy the "Chicken and Grapes" salad made in the Deli Dept. and, of course, the "Cinnalicious Bread" from the Bakery.
Why do you enjoy being a Tour Guide? - Being a Tour Guide means meeting people from all over the USA and the world. I enjoy that aspect of the position.
What is your favorite department to talk about during a tour? - My favorite department to talk about is the Bakery. With all the wonderful aromas and presentations of the baked goods, my visitors know they are in for tasty treats.

Mandi

What is your favorite country? - My favorite country would have to be Germany.
What is your favorite food/item to purchase at Jungle Jim's? - Sushi and Artichoke Salsa.

What is your favorite country? - Italy--I love the food, the people, the weather, the sights--all of it!
What is your favorite food/item to purchase at Jungle Jim's? - Rainbow trout--I get it fresh in the seafood department, bring it home and cook it immediately, and it feels as though I've spent the day out fishing and brought home my catch!
Why do you enjoy being a Tour Guide? - As a former teacher, I enjoy working with the children (camp and school groups) and having them try new and unusual foods. I also enjoy touring with adults and seeing them get excited and enthusiastic about the variety of food offerings.
