Great Lakes Brewing Company is a Cleveland, Ohio-based regional brewing and restaurant company which has been in operation since 1988. Luke Purcell, the Pub Brewer for Great Lakes Brewing Company, will be on hand to share his take on the history of GLBC, beer philosophy and rest assured, he will bring along some special things from the brewery.

      Smuttynose Brewing Company is a craft brewery that was founded in 1994 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It is named after Smuttynose Island, one of the Isles of Shoals. We will have as our guest Peter Egleston, the father of east-coast micro-brewing and the CEO of Smuttynose. Founded in 1994 by Egelston as a joint partnership with Ipswich Brewery (now Mercury Brewing Company), Peter quickly became the sole owner. The current, year round beer lineup consists of Shoals Pale Ale, Smuttynose IPA (aka The Finest Kind), Portsmouth Lager, Old Brown Dog, and Smuttynose Robust Porter. The Seasonals include Summer Weizen, Winter Ale, Pumpkin Ale, and Hanami Ale, a Belgian-inspired cherry ale introduced in the spring of 2007. The Big Beer Series lineup includes Barleywine, Wheat Wine, Imperial Stout, Scotch Ale, S'muttonator Doublebock, Farmhouse Ale and Big A IPA.

      The Boston Beer Company is an American brewing company founded in 1984 by Jim Koch and lead investors Harry Rubin and Lorenzo Lamadrid in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The beers were originally contract brewed by the Pittsburgh Brewing Company, though today, approximately 66% of its beer is produced at the company's Cincinnati brewery. The brand name for the beers is Samuel Adams (often abbreviated to Sam Adams, even in advertisements), after Samuel Adams, an American patriot famous for his role in the American Revolution, who, according to tradition, was also a brewer. It is the largest American-owned brewery.

      While the Pale Ale, Porter, Kalamazoo Stout, Third Coast Beer, Amber Ale and Two Hearted Ale are available year round, the majority of Bell's beers are seasonal. For example, Oberon Ale is available from late March through October and Best Brown Ale from October through March. The Stouts are available on a schedule similar to that for the Best Brown. Others like the Consecrator Doppelbock and the Sparkling Ale are single batches released once a year. Bell's also releases one time only 'millennial' brews to commemorate each of its successive 1000 batches. The upcoming availability of these beers can be relatively predicted by the batch number of the Bell's products currently available, printed on every bottle of Bell's beer.

You definitely do not want to miss this event.

        »» Guests can purchase a bottle (750ml, 1 L and 1.75 L) of Woodford Reserve bourbon downstairs at the JJ liquor store, bring it upstairs, hand it to the custom engraving station, where Chris Morris will also be signing the purchased bottles, and then bottles can be picked up at 7:30pm towards the end of the cigar tasting.
