How long can cigars be stored?

Indefinitely.  Some cigars have been maintained in perfect condition for 50 or 100 years.

At what humidity level should I store my cigars?

This is a highly debatable issue.  We recommend a humidity of 68-70.

At what temperature should I store my cigars?

We recommend a temperature of 70 degrees.

Some cigars I buy are wrapped in plastic.  Should I remove this when storing my cigars in my humidor?

Yes.  The plastic will impair the aging and maturing process that occurs in your humidor.

What is a Cigar Punch?

A cigar punch is a device used to make a small hole in the end of a cigar prior to smoking.

What is a Cigar Bullet?

A cigar bullet, like the name implies, resembles a bullet casing.  The open end of the casing is used to cut a small diameter hole in the end of the cigar prior to smoking.

How can I tell if a cigar is fresh?

Gently squeeze it.  If it is hard or crunches, it is dry, stale, and has not been stored in a humidor.

How do cigars from different countries taste?

Cigars from Jamaica are considered mild.  Cigars from the Dominican Republic are medium in strength, and cigars from Honduras and Nicaragua have a stronger taste.

How does size affect cigar taste?

Generally, larger ring size, diameter cigars are more flavorful.  Longer cigars smoke cooler.

What is ring gauge and how is it measured?

Ring size is the cigar's diameter, measured in 64ths of an inch.  Thus a 32 ring cigar will measure 1/2 inch in diameter.  Although many catalogs list ring sizes, they may deviate from each by a couple of points on specific cigars.

What is the difference between "drug store" cigars, and fine quality cigars?

"Drug store" cigars, like cigarettes contain additives such as salt peter to promote even burning.  Fine cigars are made with tobacco only.
