Dear Friends of the Cooking School,

Each season of the year boasts its own charm, but the warm breezy days of spring seem very welcome after the rigors of winter. Early this summer the Cooking School is hosting the third culinary tour of Emila-Romagna, Italy, with Don Govoni as guide. Added to the itinerary is an afternoon at Gelato University in Bologna. There’s nothing like a cup of authentic Italian gelato in the heat of summer and we’ll be learning how to make this chilly indulgence for ourselves.

“Summer Gifts from the Kitchen” is a new class we are adding in this brochure. You’ll learn some great ideas for capturing the best of summer bounty to share all year long with your friends and family. Just think of it as a helpful head start to holiday giving!

This past fall we introduced a new concept class for those students desiring an intense, small-group experience. “Hands-On Pasta Workshop” gave 4 students a great opportunity to learn the fundamentals of pasta making. Each student made their own pasta dough using a traditional crank method and using a KitchenAid. Students ate their own fettucine and ravioli and then took some home to share with their families. The response was so positive that we are offering this workshop again in the summer and will be adding new workshops this fall.

Back by popular demand are an encore performance of A Bourbon Pairing Dinner, A Low-Country Shrimp Boil and Cedar-Planked Salmon classes. Grilled Pizza has continued to be a summer tradition and we are glad to offer it again. Join us for Sushi — always a favorite! There are just some classes that strike a cord with our students and these are the ones that students continue to ask for and attend. When we combine great food, good drinks and fun instruction, everyone wins! Join us this summer for food and fun!

We’ll see you in the kitchen!

Bon Appétit,
